really bad at coming up with something catchy but worth knowing anyway
I clicked “here” for advice on writing my profile description. It said to avoid clichés. I guess they assume I am more than a cliché. They are just so convenient as witticisms I am loath to give them up. **I am mostly a relativist (but quintessentially I can’t commit to such an absolute term without some sort of qualification). I enjoy lively debates and thoughtful conversations, though sometimes frivolous conversation are good for a laugh. Silence is also highly underrated. **I have a vivid imagination, though it often lives in the confines of my limited vocabulary. Words can be so inconvenient when they only give shape and not substance. Of course, that doesn’t stop me from loving them. Etymology is educational! I delight in irony, though perhaps less so when it is self-involved! **I spent 10 months abroad 2 years ago, trying to love people in Jesus’s name. I think I mostly succeeded. I have spent the last two years saving money to go back to school (at present I am hoping to start school the summer of 2010). I would like to live abroad again (on a permanent basis), showing people what Jesus has to offer to them. **I am bilingual, though am conversant in a third language, just not good enough to consider myself tri-lingual, as much as I would like to be! I have studied numerous languages, both living and dead. Both are an interesting study. Living languages, of course, have the advantage of people and well, dead languages have the advantage of non-conversant objects! **A few statements on faith. I put non-denominational because none of the others seem to fit. I have no idea what the nuances between charismatic and pentecostal are. I believe God speaks today, have been healed physically and emotionally. I seek to see Jn 14:12 (“anyone who believes in me will do the works I do, and, in fact will do even greater works than these because I am going to the Father”) realized in my everyday life. Prayer is less an act and more of an open dialog. The Bible is a poignant and vibrant part of my life, so often God has used words written thousands of years ago to profoundly impact my life. **I want someone who will be the spiritual leader of our relationship, who wants to live abroad (outside of the US), who values healing, open communication and prayer. Everything else is a bonus I look forward to discovering. **Oh, I have a nose ring in case you care about such things. I think it is tastefully done, but I am sure anyone with body piercings would say the same, even if I wouldn’t necessarily agree. **I also want to know why you can only say you pray once a day but you can say you can read the Bible more than once a day—what’s the ideology behind that one? **
